The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
