The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
