The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
