The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
