The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
