The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
