The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
