The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
