The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
