The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The day the convulsive shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "When we have become decayed bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
