The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
