The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
