The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day the convulsive shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
