He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
