He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
