He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
