He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
