He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
