He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
