He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
