He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
