The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 in the nearer part of the land; and, after their vanquishing, they shall be the victors 3 In some few years. Allah's is the command, before and after. And on that day the believers will rejoice. 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 This is the promise of God. God does not ignore His promise, but many people do not know. 6 They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. 7 Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
