He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
