He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
