He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
