He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
