The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
