The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
