The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 The rising dawn, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
