The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
