The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
