The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
