The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
