The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
