Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven becomes cleft asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 And when the seas are made to flow forth, 3 When the graves are overturned, 4 then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter. 5 O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer, 6 Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion; 7 and set you in whatever form He pleased? 8 Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment, 9 And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you, 10 noble scribes, 11 They know what you do. 12 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous: will indeed be in bliss, 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 They will enter it on the Day of Justice. 15 and from which they will find no escape. 16 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 17 Again, what do you know – of what sort is the Day of Justice! 18 It is the day when no soul will have power to do the least for a soul, and God's alone will be done. 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
