Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven shall be cleft, 1 And when the stars have fallen and scattered; 2 the oceans are merged together, 3 And when the graves are overturned. 4 then a soul shall know its works, the former and the latter. 5 O man, what seduced you from your munificent Lord 6 who has created thee, and formed thee in accordance with what thou art meant' to be, and shaped thy nature in just proportions, 7 In whatever shape He will He could surely have fashioned you. 8 Nay, but ye deny the Judgment. 9 Yet over you there are watchers, 10 noble, recording, 11 who know all that you do: 12 The pious will surely be in heaven, 13 and the libertines shall be in a fiery furnace 14 Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment, 15 And they will not be able to keep away therefrom. 16 And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 17 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 18 It is the Day when no soul can do a thing for another soul. That Day, the command belongs to Allah. 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
