The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 for a great Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in the lowest depths, Sijjin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
