The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
