The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
