The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
