The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
