The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
