The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
