The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
