The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
