The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
