The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
