The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
