The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
