The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
